Our main activity is "The Great Ape Campaign", environmental education and action in Cameroon schools. In urban & rural areas.
Solutions for helping and protecting humans are a major component of WPE’s work.
People have to be involved in preserving and conserving nature.
Education and knowledge against hunger, destruction of nature yet for prosperity of the people is our concept.
WPE has created an environmental song, radio plays, an education forum for children over the internet and facilitated painting competitions. In addition WPE designed a bushmeat poster to sensitize the general public on the problems of illegal hunting of protected animals.
In order to enhance the work that WPE has been doing towards EE in Cameroon, we intend to undertake the following activities:
Undertake educational outings for school children
Continue to teach EE at schools in Yaoundé and the neighbouring villages
Conduct education programmes for adults (e.g. seminars, workshops, etc)
Conduct workshops for teachers
Produce educational materials
Continue to support school partnerships between Cameroon and other countries
Lobby government for a school’s environmental policy
The major stakeholders in the projects are: communities; community volunteers; schools; relevant government agencies; animal sanctuaries; and others.
Rainforests, the rich animal kingdom of the veld and savannah as well as the maritime habitat, represent an enourmeous abundance for the respective countries and the entire world population and must be permanently protected. Thats our task.
The nature can live without us, but we can not live without nature!
It is time to act and to promote sustainable environmental protection in a better way. Everyone can and must do something. Otherwise we loose our habitat forever.
