Dear members, nature and cameroon friends
After we have found a sponsor with the German company Sundaymedia for our website and the Cameroon Forum ‘children for nature “, I can now report more good news.
As announced in our last Report the Swiss radio station LoRa 97.5 MHZ had sent our radio play “La Pays Rouge” with comments on WPE. With Cameroon radio stations I’m still talking and I assume that La Pays Rouge and the environment WPE Song will soon also available nationwide. In Cameroon, everything takes a little longer. Everything needs a bit passion here, but I get used to.
We could win some new friends for our work in the last few weeks and there were donations made which makes it possible to continue our work. Thanks for this help exactly in the right time. Our previous supporters like Sauvegarde Faune Sauvage, ForestSeed, waswirtun, better, place, ido world, and more., and private supporters are not forgotten.
Our project “environmental education” was the project of the week for several times at ido world.
Mr Martin Biyong is our new and closest colleague and a new member of WPE. Mr. Biyong is a researcher in the field of agriculture and forestry, and works as a consultant for other organizations such as WWF. More in WPE Forum.
Cooperations
Forests and especially the rain forests are the basis of life for humans and animals and the guarantee of a healthy climate. The protection of forests and the reforestation therefore take a key role in conservation. Our cooperation with ForestSeed will be an important part of our projects in Central Africa for the protection of rainforests and their inhabitants.
SAUVEGARDE FAUNE SAUVAGE is a French organization that has for a long time dedicated conservation. The head of the organization is distinguished by heroic deeds for the preservation of our nature.
Sauvegarde Faune Sauvage is committed to the European nature conservation and supports the work in Africa against the bushmeat problem, the illegal animal and the ivory trade.
Volunteers
Since our site is back online, there are many requests from volunteers and the first volunteer from outside Cameroon this year comes as early as next month. The new volunteer will then report certainly in the WPE Forum itself. On volunteers at WPE are exciting times varied.
The organization WAGI – Wildlife Action Group International had tried very hard to push us forward with our Volunteer Program. WAGI has been operating many years for active conservation in Africa.
Move
WPE is moving, the bags are packed. The next report will be sent from the region of Kribi Campo Ma an. There we will introduce as the main project, the environmental education. Another important, additional component of environmental education there are the maritime issues such as regarding sea turtles.
Further community based projects, research about the human-wildlife conflict and solutions will be developed by us. The next reports to be correspondingly very attractive.
Bushmeat
Thanks for the help of our new supporters were the investigations on bushmeat, animal trafficking and ivory trade could be expanded considerably. These investigations are both time and financially costly. It is not possible to report on ongoing investigations. In due time we will know the results.
We convict Sonia is unfortunately still in captivity. We had passed the case to the authorities here first and can do no more, especially since the “owner” of Sonia had even threatened me with murder. We will continue to alert authorities to the problem and not give up as long as it is not clear.
Our anti-bushmeat campaign could be, unfortunately, not yet realized due to lack of support, but that will come. We have good stamina and patience and we believe in what we do here.
A new Bushmeat report is prepared. We wait for the publication for some more results of investigations.
School holidays
Since beginning of this month in Cameroon are the major school holidays which last until early September. At the end of the school year I had the great honor to be present at the award and the adoption ceremonies of the graduating classes of students. At the event I was in Bastos, Yaounde in the stronghold of the migrants the only white among the many guests.
The children have presented plays, dance performances and sketches and everything was very well staged. I was very proud of these kids with whom I had a lot of fun in the past. The Children now have a more conscious understanding of our environment on the road.
School Partnerships
Further developments about school partnerships are working well. We could win a German school magazine as a sponsor. The magazine will appear in early September with a circulation of 35 000 units and a full-page advertisement for WPE and our work. On the subject of school partnerships and before the publication of the magazine in end of july we publish a special WPE Newsletter. School holidays in European countries have or will begin soon all take some time but the preparations are in full progress.
News and reports are now available in the WPE WordPress blog to read at any time and can be also commented.
The next report will be released shortly. We try again to report at a positive coverage about very sad issues. Our environment, nature and its inhabitants, need us and our help. We need your help to do our to our aid for the last great apes and all other inhabitants of the rainforest. I look forward for a positive number of resonance.
